Journey to San Juan Islands, Day 4 (part 2): A Taste of Heaven

And just like that – after 4 1/2 days of amazingness packed full into our hearts –ย  we were on our way to Orcas Island (without the bait and switch this time!)

We then made our way north to the top of Orcas’ “horseshoe.’

Immediately we were taken by the farmland. LOVE the diversity.

And then we landed in a piece of heaven – a magic hobbit land (Salish Sea Escapes). Ocean view, private patio, dock and beach, the most pristine hot tub EVER (thank you Covid), and an essential oil sauna to sweat it out the easy way! Plus it turned out, the owner and manager are friends of my son and his Portland family! Oh. My. Sweet. Sweet. Jesus. Everything and more that I could have hoped and dreamed for Terry’s 60th birthday. (And no, I am not getting paid for any of my gushing! Because quite frankly, I’d rather keep them a personal secret! ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

I won’t go into all the details of their property and listings etc…, but suffice to say I don’t think you could go wrong with any of their units (and I think only a couple are advertised on Airbnb). (We stayed in one of their studios – appropriately named Eagle’s Nest)

Heading to our front door…

Through the door

Around the corner to the bathroom!

Then turning around to look out the front windows again…

In all ways there was beauty and surprises everywhere we looked.

Going onto our patio again we were blown away with all of this… can it truly get any better?

And did I mention how unbelievably clean the hot tub was??

Plus we even had our own confessional. Ha! (Oh the stories we could have/should have told!… but I”ll just leave it at that. Thankful all we need is Jesus and each other to make us washed clean as snow again… until tomorrow! ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

And as we explored beyond our patio, artwork and beauty continued to grace each turn.

Doors led to secret gardens…

Gates made me look like I was a wizard… (No wizard hat on, I swear!)

Paths were lined with lanterns…

And the best path of all was this one…

leading to a dock made with care…

ending up here …

Thank you for the red carpet treatment, Lord

So, soย  grateful for this taste of heaven.

  1. This was such a delight..around every corner some new whimsy ..there no where I’ve ever seen to compare so it must be that taste of Heaven. And you can’t beat the narrator ๐Ÿ˜‰ but I have to tell you..go to the picture where you are standing in the background and mentioning the lanterns. Your hat and the wood behind look very much like a wizard hat! The sun and water melt my heart, two beauties in a beautiful serene paradise. Xo

  2. Ok, Jane, I grabbed Denny off his computer and insisted he look at our next few day getaway place, this Orcas “A Little Taste of Heaven” place, and your Eagles Next hobbit cabin has my name written all over it: “Patti Pooh’s Eagle Next Haven!”
Now to save a few thousand shekels to make that happen! YESsss! ๐Ÿ™‚
